SUMMARY OF NEW APRS STATION CHANGES APRIL 2005

STATION SETTINGS AND OUTGOING PATH SELECTION

  Low Powered Trackers (1-4 watts):
Outgoing path: WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2
Periodicity: Not more than once every minute. Reduce path setting for shorter transmit cycles.

Also: TRACE will no longer be supported, and RELAY support will be going away by end of 2005

  Mobile/Maritime Trackers (5 watts or greater):
Outgoing path: WIDE2-2 or WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2
Periodicity: Not more than once every two minutes. Reduce path setting for shorter transmit cycles.

  Aircraft, Balloons, Rockets:
Outgoing path: WIDE2-2
Periodicity: Not more than once every minute. Reduce path setting for shorter transmit cycles

  Fixed Stations:
Outgoing path: WIDE2-2 or WIDE3-3 (Use the smaller number if you live in an area where APRS is very active)
Periodicity: Normally software controlled once every 30 minutes. If a weather station, OK to transmit weather data every 15 minutes.

Also: Set UIDIGI ON RELAY,WIDE1    
Also: Make sure your APRS software does not change MYA to RELAY. MYA field should be empty. Most APRS applications set MYA RELAY. You will need to edit the start up file and delete this line entry.

  WIDEn-N Digipeaters:
