Northwest Pearls

Here's a list of favorite places our NWAPRS members have found and wanted to share with you:

Ainsworth (BC) Hot Springs Resort features three odorless pools, 150 foot horseshoe cave, main lounging pool and stream-fed cold plunge. The pools provide the perfect place to relax and enjoy some of West Kootenay's majestic scenery - Purcell Mountains and Kootenay Lake - beautiful drive either with a car or bike.  You can head north and then west to Nakusp or Halcyon Hotsprings. Columbia River Maritime Museum, Astoria, OR. Boats, pictures, displays, Native American artifacts. The bridge of a destroyer and the periscope of a submarine. http://www.crmm.org. Submitted by Mike/KB7WUK.

Evergreen Aviation Museum, McMinnville, OR. Airplanes, lots of airplanes. The majority of the cool collection of aircraft are still in flying condition. See the Spruce Goose, an SR-71, X-15, Lunar Module, B-17 (ask me about this one), P-38 and assortment of wartime birds. Next door is iMax theater, and a new space museum is under construction. http://www.sprucegoose.org. Submitted by Dave/K7GPS.

Kaslo BC - Beautiful little arts town between Ainsworth and Nakusp.  Visit the Moyie and old paddle wheeler on shore and set up for visitors, have lunch or supper at the Rose Cafe. Just 20 minutes from Ainsworth. Submitted by Bernie/VE7BVT.

Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, Ilwaco, WA. The story of the Lewis & Clark expedition, some local lifeboat service history, some lighthouse history. WWII artiller emplacements and great view of the Columbia River Bar. http://www.parks.wa.gov/lcinterpctr.asp, http://lewisandclarktrail.com/section4/wacities/chinook/lewisclarkcenter/.
